The efforts of the new reformed health care program

The main crux of the health care reform is to bring more and more Americans under the purview of being insured and to have a system in place that does not turn away patients with no health insurance.

The actual reforms in the health care system in the US started way back a hundred years ago. They gained great momentum in the year 1994 during the time of Bill Clinton as the President and then finally saw the light of day now.

The way the health care premiums went was that they really hit the roof. Every year families ended up paying more and more for their health insurance until there was a time when a health insurance worked out to be more expensive than a house payment.

This is the change that the health care reform wants to bring about. Make the health care payment more affordable for the common American and at the same time bring more people into the insurance circle.

The health care reform that was introduced by the Obama government wants to reduce the costs of buying health insurance by getting more insurance companies into the fray and making it highly competitive.

Also, by focusing on the almost 47 million Americans who have no insurance! This is by making health insurance not a matter of option but mandatory for all the citizens. And, if a person or family is found to be without health insurance then they will be penalized for it in the form of a fine levied on an annual basis.

The government has tried to bring about changes in small businesses and employers to buy health insurance for their employees. Any firm with more than 25 employees will need to provide health insurance for their employees.

There will be several different kinds of tax cuts and credits that are on offer and which will help save the business adequate amounts of money to be able to pay for the health insurance bought.

Another effort that has been made by the government in the health care reform is to eliminate the prejudice against people with pre-existing health concerns. They will not be allowed to be excluded by the health insurance carriers henceforth.

There is also an expansion of Medicaid for the senior citizens who will get them adequate amounts of preventive health care benefits as well as refilling of their prescriptions. There will be a whole lot of state run health exchange kiosks that will be operational and one buy health insurance for themselves in the most competitive of ways out here.

Also, dependent children up to the age of 26 will be covered in the main health plan of their parents. This will apply to children whether married, unmarried, student or not. Insurance companies will not be in a position to decline a policy except in cases of fraud. Also, there will have to be more transparency to be followed by insurance companies in their documents with less technicalities and easily understandable terms.
